The Facilities & Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of DeGeest Corporation's manufacturing facility and industrial equipment. This hands-on role supports production by minimizing unplanned downtime, maintaining equipment reliability, and ensuring the facility operates safely and efficiently. Working closely with the Engineering team, this position combines technical expertise, organization, and problem-solving while providing opportunities to expand into automation integration and technical service work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for production equipment and facility systems
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial equipment to minimize operational downtime
- Maintain facility systems including lighting, compressed air, gas lines, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, lawn care, and snow removal
- Support the upkeep and maintenance of equipment including lasers, CNC machines, brake presses, robotic weld cells, cranes, forklifts, paint systems, and other manufacturing assets
- Document maintenance activities, repair histories, labor, and parts usage within the ERP system
- Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Assist with installation, setup, upgrades, and integration of new equipment and automation systems
- Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in compliance with company standards, including Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Support technical service opportunities and automation initiatives as business needs require
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree or technical certification in engineering, industrial equipment, robotics, electronics, or a related field preferred but not required
- 2–5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance or industrial equipment maintenance within a manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot a variety of industrial equipment
- Experience with preventative maintenance planning, documentation, and recordkeeping preferred
- Experience utilizing ERP systems or computerized maintenance tracking systems is a plus
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, balance, and perform hands-on maintenance activities throughout the workday
- Ability to routinely lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with appropriate assistance
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, varying temperatures, and outdoor conditions when necessary
- Ability to safely utilize hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment
Location: Tea, SD (right off I-29)
Work Hours: 7:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday – Friday

Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is eligible for a bonus.
